Occurrence and Origin
Our MAXBERG® Jura limestone was formed around 160 million years ago in the Franconian Jura region. The popularly known Jura marble is the result of unique geological development processes. Each stone contains numerous testimonies of early plant and animal life. The power of nature that created this natural stone and the visible geological documentation give it its special appeal. Neither artificial material nor any other natural stone can convey this aura. This fine-grained limestone impresses with its extraordinary variety of colors. The meter-thick different layers in our quarries produce these different color characteristics.

Quarries
We have several quarries where the MAXBERG® Jura limestone is extracted. Direct processing is attached to each quarry, which enables further processing without long transport routes.

Extraction and processing
Due to the meter-thick layers, the Jura limestone is mined with heavy equipment. Afterwards, the large blocks of natural stone are transported for further processing, where they are then sawn and cut into various sizes. Thanks to the most modern machine park, it is then possible to produce even the smallest natural stone tiles to measure. This is how facade stones, floor tiles, solid workpieces or beautiful garden walls are created. The diversity of this stone is unique.
