JURA LIMESTONE
ORIGINS & QUARRIES
About 160 million years back, our MAXBERG Jura Limestone was shaped in the region of the Franconian Alb. Each rock tells a story of geological changes and offers a glimpse into the life of ancient plants and animals. No artificial substance or any other type of natural rock can match the unique quality of this stone. The various layers in our quarries, several metres thick, reveal a wide range of colours in the finely-grained limestone. It is also commonly referred to as Jura marble.
All of our quarries, from which we extract MAXBERG Jura Limestone, are equipped for direct processing, which helps us avoid lengthy transportation routes.
EXTRACTION & PROCESSING
Through the metre-thick layers, the Jura limestone is quarried with heavy equipment. The large natural stone blocks are then transported to the processing plant, where we saw and cut them into various sizes. Modern machinery makes it possible to produce even the smallest natural stone tiles true to size. As such, we can create facade stones, floor tiles, massive workpieces or beautiful garden walls. The diversity of these natural stone slabs is special and unique.
SUSTAINABILITY & ECOLOGY
Our MAXBERG Jura Limestone is used globally as an eco-friendly construction material. It's 100 % natural, without any chemicals – a feature appreciated by builders who prioritise sustainability. Besides its architectural benefits, it offers ecological and economic advantages that set this premium natural stone apart. Furthermore, we restore our quarries to their natural state, forming genuine havens for local wildlife.
