OCCURRENCE & FORMATION
Solnhofener limestone slabs are found in the area near Solnhofen. But how was it formed? During the Upper Jurassic period (roughly 150 million years ago), the sea regularly flooded lagoons, leading to higher salt levels in these waters. As a result, dead animals and plants did not break down as usual; instead, they were preserved in great detail as fossils.
EXTRACTION & PROCESSING
Over 2000 years ago, the Romans quarried SOLNHOFENER Natural Stone by hand and used it as a high-quality building material. Today, this valuable stone is still extracted in an eco-friendly manner, entirely by hand. The stone's unique layering makes it unsuitable for heavy machinery, so, just like the Romans did, skilled workers still use hammers and chisels to extract these valuable slabs carefully.
ECOLOGY
A product crafted entirely from natural biomass and extracted manually without any radiation or chemicals, SOLNHOFENER Natural Stone has an outstanding ecological balance. It is the top preference for builders who value sustainability, environmental awareness, and visual appeal.
